We understand how tempting it is to stop and admire Iceland’s stunning landscapes—but never stop on the road.
- Stopping on the Ring Road or highways is illegal and extremely dangerous
- Other drivers may not expect a stopped vehicle
- Visibility can be poor due to weather, curves, or hills
What to do instead
- Use designated parking areas or pull-offs
- Plan photo stops in advance
- If no safe stop is available → keep driving
