In perfect driving conditions, these are the general speed limits in Iceland:
- Urban Areas (Towns/Cities): 50 km/h (30 mph)
- Residential Areas: Often reduced to 30 km/h (18 mph)
- Rural Gravel Roads: 80 km/h (50 mph)
- Paved Rural Roads / Ring Road: 90 km/h (55 mph)
