Below are the available reporting options and a short guide explaining how each method works.

Important:
Always collect photos of all vehicles, damages, road conditions, and license plates if possible.

💻 Online Reporting Options

Use this service when two or more vehicles are involved in the accident.

Cons
Since the report is not signed physically, insurance companies may need confirmation from both parties before
making a decision.

If you have Icelandic electronic identification, you can register the accident directly with the insurance
company.

Pros
Faster insurance processing and easy submission.
Cons
Insurance confirmation from the other party may still be required.


Simple Online Form

Use this form for accidents involving only one vehicle.

Pros
The accident report is sent directly to us, reducing return processing time.
Cons
Only suitable for single vehicle incidents and may require extra insurance steps later.

📝 Written Accident Report (Two Vehicles)

If internet access is unavailable or both drivers prefer a signed paper report,
use the standard accident form.

Important:
Fill out as many fields as possible and make sure both drivers sign the document.

How to Fill Out the Front Page

  1. Date and time of accident (DD/MM/YYYY format)
  2. Place of accident, road number and location
  3. Were there injuries? (Very important for later medical claims)
  4. Damage to any property such as poles or fences
  5. Witness information if anyone saw the accident
  6. Write Hertz as the vehicle owner
  7. Vehicle type / plate number / country (write Iceland)
  8. Insurance company: Sjóvá
  9. Fill out all driver information carefully
  10. Mark damage location with arrows
  11. Describe the damage clearly
  12. Check all boxes that apply
  13. Draw the accident scene
  14. Add extra notes if needed
  15. Both drivers must sign and keep a copy
